According to the Little Prince, “What is essential is invisible to the eye.”
Yesterday my yoga instructor suggested we approach most postures with our eyes closed. Her point was that it would help us to concentrate. It certainly made me more mindful of the limitations of learning or perfecting postures when I could not see them. Listening to her instructions made me think I knew what to do. I could not be sure due to not seeing what she was doing.
And I still found myself considering this blog post, even when I should have been focusing on breath control and my form. Although I did notice that I experienced balance differently from foot to foot. Since I am right sided and am mostly rehabbed from a tendon injury in my left foot, I expected to balance better while standing on my right foot. That was not the case. Curiouser and curiouser.
Perhaps it will take even more discipline to tune out all my other thoughts.
